FML! FML!

MY FUCKING PEN NIB.

FUCK.
MY PEN NIB.

I DROPPED IT.

AND I HAVE NO FUCKING SPARES.

DO YOU UNDERSTAND WHAT THIS MEANS.

IT MEANS.

IT.

MEANS>

*deep breath*

My tablet is now effectively useless. I mean, I can still use, like, the eraser end but its just. . . NOT RIGHT.

NOT.

RIGHT.

I SAY.

so...
yeah.

no more digital things till i can either order some new nibs or find a replacement pen. (I'd rather the latter since this one is FUCKED UP, but they don't make pens for this tablet anymore)

. . . Hyup.

MANUSCRIPPTTTTTTTT

I Shall start with the boring things, then work my way up the ladder to OMFG AWESOME.

. . . okay, maybe not boring.

Above there is my entry for the contest that dA was holding, for a cover to the Inception Motion Comic that It being worked on- I guess the winner is chosen by Christopher Nolan, which means that If i make it into the top 15 (which I doubt)- then he'll -look- at my art.
(I actually just realized that now) which is FUCKING AMAZING IN AN OF ITSELF.
. . . I no longer care if I win. I just want to make it into the top 15.
But anyway, yeah.
I think that, of the three of them, Arthur looks most like himself. Nash looks a little young, and Leo looks- Uh.
pouty :|
The sketches that I worked the painting off of looked just like all of them, though, which is a fucking amazing feat, for me. so. yeah.
I do like the basic layout and composition, and I've never been able to manipulate colors on purpose like I did here.
so, overall. . . good times.

LOOK A ZOMBIE

Hanna.
HANNA WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING GET BACK HERE.
. . .
Hanna?

HANNA.
YOU FORGOT YOUR HAMMER.

Claudandus (or Galahad, or Oedipus, or whatever Hanna is calling him these days) is trying VERY HARD to make sure that a certain redhead doesn't get himself deflated or impaled or otherwise fucked up, but it's probably not going to work.

. . . Sorry, zombie-man. Better put Worth on speed-dial so that you can let him know you're coming.

. . .

Does Worth even HAVE a phone?!

I bet he does.
But he hasn't paid his bills in so long that it doesn't really matter.

(If I've completely lost you, please go here and read: http://hanna.aftertorque.com/ )

and. . . A commission for the Iron Artist Thang- Most excellent fellow, too, by the way! WIsh to work with him again-

Charem the- well, the charmander (I do hope that I didn't need to telly you that.) For obvious reasons, isn't too fond of baths that take place in any sort of proper liquid (unless it is also a liquid that can set things on fire) His master, Guan, has no other choice though- and what comes out of it is an incredible show of the trust between the two- the pet trusting the master to be careful- his life is quite literally in the larger's hands- and the master trusting the pet not to harm him as he goes about his business-
Really just an adorable Idea, and I was glad to be able to bring it to life

I had more things written up about this picture, but blogger eated them.

This picture actually made it onto the refrigerator of the person I made it for- which made me very, very happy.

Abnd this- is for Saethwr =D He decided that Lemon Drizzle Cake was now Lemon Krizzle Cake, and.
So I drew it.

it is adorable.

and these.. are some sketches of an RP character for Kyrena.

Her name is Haizea. She's good at parkour and has lived in a canyon for like the last ten years or something. Watch out. she bites.

man she has like the most smug face ever. Pity that she doesn't usually.. smug.

And here is where the exciting stuff begins-
I'll just post some sketches, first. . .

WAIT WHAT'S THIS

OH MY GOD IT'S OPEN

HOLY SHIT

Yeah, so- My Aunt Jenee (WHO IS AMAZING BY THE WAY)- I sent her a copy of the script as it'd been written up so far, and -
She printed it, and did a little bit of editing (and I did the rest) and gave it to me at the family Christmas thing <3 It has been most extremely useful and I'm actually using it now to plan out the pages and pictures and stuff, since I work best with hard copies of things.

I'm to pages 29/30 now, and it's just been an amazingsend.

and it excites me- having something physical like this- really means "YES IT WILL HAPPEN FOR SURE". . which is amazing <3

nothing of interest

Well! Not too much first off- Just a series of WIPS for the choir thingy-

I've actually made a fair bit of progress since then, but of course. . . I can't show you yet because I haven't really saved it.

And this?
well.
I love inception.
Deviantart is holding a contest.
bing bang boom.
:3 It'll be awesome.

News that Hopes to be Exciting

It hopes, damnit, it HOPES.

I've submitted an application to a few places throughout the county (and city) of Sacramento, including the 311 call center (which I mention mostly because it is the one that I really would like to get). As well I'm in the process of sending off a few other apps to various other places that I hadn't even thought of (let alone considered) previously.

My fingers are crossed.

In other news. . .

WORK!

Thanks to Drew, Chapter 1 of Final Absolution is very nearly complete! (Well, drafted, anyway. Once he's done with it I have to go over it and edit the hell out of the thing)

And I'm about halfway done with the current strain of edits to The River, and have gotten back into the swing of drawing the characters again. (I should really stop taking breaks from that.)

I've finally figured out how to get my watercolors looking the way that I want, as well, so once I get done with my current batch of commissions, I should be posting some more art from The River.

Speaking of commissions- Here are some!

this one if for Charem (who can be found at http://www.furaffinity.net/user/charem )- His primary character is a Charmeleon, and he had a most adorable idea of it being bathed by its master. So here is Guan and Charem, the larger of the two giving the smaller a bath- gently sudzing him up and holding the tail-flame out of the water.

D'awwww

And here is the current progress on the choral cubs picture. I cropped it so that you don't need to squint to see all of the characters- all two that have been flat colored and three that have been sketched, yessir.

The BG is so dark because I forgot to put the sky layer back when I was exporting the file for previewing >>

Hanna Fuckin' Cross

Not too much to say in general, but i have some WIPs of generally nonimportant things-

This is a doodle of Hanna from "Hanna is Not a Boys Name" . . . Because i could.

HOLY SHIT, HANNA.

YOUR HAIR IS AMAZING.

HOW DO YOU MAKE IT CURL AND SHINE LIKE THAT.

This is a classic example of "The sketch looked WAY more like the character than the finished product does."

. . . Everyone always draws Hanna with blue eyes, but I wanted to be different, and also Miss Stone i do not think ever draws them with color (that I have seen) and as such they are CLEARLY dark gray.
Clearly.
(with a blue tint)
In part because he has red hair.

Also, Hanna, your hair was a bitch.
finding that exact shade of red-brown was SO HARD that I actually had to go back to my laptop (because I do not draw there), get on the HiNaBN website, and colordrop your hair from the banner :|

But it came out the best of the entire picture, I think, so that's alright.

. . .

Can you guys make out the shading on his face/hands?
It was extremely obvious on my desktop but I'm looking at it on the laptop now and it kinda just looks like his face is dirty (which is partly due to my inability to pick colors- I'll work on that, I swear.)

I'm using this as an opportunity to learn, and given that, I think it turned out okay. Though I cannot for the life of me pick out dark colors to shade with :|

. . . playing with layer types for the (sketchy) lines, too. I always forget that Black doesn't really do anything except disappear when layer types are set, though. *derp*

. . . Anyway.
To be honest, I mostly wanted to finish drawing that sweatshirt.
Like.
I LOVE argyle, and I perhaps love orange+blue even more, so the two of them together is just TOO MUCH TO HANDLE.

It took a very long time before Mom and I came to all the other colors for the jacket, though, because I didn't really know what It looked like except lighter sleeves/hood and the blue+orange argyle.

So Uh. I'm glad it worked out.

If someone could please PLEASE make me that sweatshirt, I would love you forever (and probably give you all of my money)

. . . and this is {. . .}, who I call Claudnadus, though Hanna calls him Galahad or Oedipus or any other number of funny names.

Not really anything to say about it yet. I'm sitll playing with it and we'll see what happens.

AND FINALLY.

Look, watercolors!
You may remember me mentioning on occasion that I'm doing a set of WAY TOO MANY ARTS for only 50$ for someone who won an auction some time ago. . . this set I'm doing watercolor on something vaguely 8.5/11 - and I'm liking how they're coming out so far way too much to not post some wips- so I did!
I had to pick the one that was the least weird. . . since most of the stuff for this commission set are weird.
And my favorite one I have been asked to not post.

BUT.

anyway, so i finally got the watercolors starting to do that i want them to do.
So yay!

Sunday, November 28, 2010

Ah man, i Can't believe that I didn't post these.

first up.. things that i for some reason never posted:

Iron Artist commission for Twix, that I actually finished before the one for Szorn. . .

I .. REALLY like how it came out. (so much so that it's actually in the gallery on my site)

The second for twix, but this one is instead mostly just a gift ;3

. . . sometimes cats like to pretend they are bread. Twix, being feline, is no exception.

and. . . Iron artist commission for Rin.

Now, on to things that are current:

Lineart for "California Girls"

the current progress on the background for the Choral Cubs picture (which has a working size of 9035 x 6557 pixels, or 30.117 x 21.857 inches) It is big. .. VERY, VERY BIG. it took me the petter part of two hours to get this much done, mostly because my processor is in revolt. I'm thinking of disabling everything else on the computer for the time being- also moving whatever i DON'T need onto the secondary tower)
-- and scribbled in there is the wireframe for one of the kids in the picture, to give you an idea of how big they all are in comparison with the BG.

And. . . the newly finished commission for Firewolf66- Hope to bob he likes it >>
I've been staring at it for too long so I have NO CLUE how I feel about it right now.

Lookit all them wips.

Someday I will learn how to come up with creative titles for my blogthings.

ANyway, so first up is some W.I.P. for Firewolf's commission- I'm trying out some new stuff I learned from a tutorial by PurpleKecleon (link: http://purplekecleon.deviantart.com/gallery/6754550#/d31xj5t ) and except for my massive inability to pick out darker colors, It seems to be working out quite well =3

Next is a preview that I TOTALLY forgot to post! This is a decent example (kinda) of what the HUGEASS group thing i'm doing should sorta look like-
And posing as an example is generifox 2.0 8D More info here: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/1869316/

And this here. .. Might be Randal from Porta Custodis. . . I haven't decided yet. I'm playing with the idea of him being the youngest gatekeeper- his predecessor died before he got the chance to retire, and Randal was thrust headfirst into the job about five/ten years before he'd expected to be, more or less on his own (i mean, the other gatekeepers are there, but they don't see each other THAT often)- anyway, so he's young and a little worse for wear. . . DUnno what his "working" clothes are, yet, though.

I AM IN LOVE WITH PROFESSOR LAYTON AND WE ARE GOING TO GET MARRIED AND HAVE LITTLE PUZZLE-SOLVING BABIES AND BREAK LUKE'S HEART AND THERE'S NOTHING YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT (unless maybe you are megamind)

OKAY.
All the rest of these are for Final Absolution

it's funny if you know the characters.
i.. don't want to explain it though >>

IT'S DONE, OH MY GOD

HOLY SHIT.

played a lot with filters and textures on this one.

LEARNIINNGGGG.

it seems to have worked though, so no biggie.

I will of course be selling prints of this =3

some wip of California Girls for Twix- sketched the characters into manga studio, then exported them to photoshop to adjust the heights. still have a -little- more to do in that area, and then i can save as a .jpg and put them back into manga studio and actually ink them.

and for firewolf, his slot in the iron artist thing- five of his characters set down for a TEAM PHOTO WOOO.
I am having some issues with legs, though.
I'll figure it out -_-

. . . anyway, I'm editing the script for The River again (if you missed it, there's a website now: http://river.thedesertwinds.com ). When i started to sketch the pages, i also started realizing better ways of doing things, and as such i need to re-arrange the pagination and overall script to make it BETTAR.

so I'll be doing that, I guess.

Mostly Gift Sketches

I'm gonna start here by saying that I'm no longer going to be posting EVERYTHING that I make for the river-
From here on out, that'll all be put on http://river.thedesertwinds.com
:3 Seeing as that's the project site and all.

BUT, you do still get the stuff that I think is "the best"- and here's the most recent one.

I'm not sure if I like how this one turned out, when compared with the previous. I didn't do any shading with the watercolors (except on the dirt/rocks/water in the BG a bit)- but I DID try out the charcoal on top of it.. i dunno. I might try the pitt pastel over the watercolros next, then do the same thing that I did with those watercolor pics awhile back- charcoal (probably pastel, now) undershading and then watering down the colors as much as I can and applying them over.
I dunno. it's storybook-y and I like the way this style is coming out overall, but it's still not as soft as I was going for.
As for what's in the background- the river is based loosely off of the Sacramento River (given I live closer to it than I thought I did.) and also kinda those BADASS mountains in china.
you know.
the awesome ones.

A doodle of Krizzle. it is adorable AND DON'T YOU DARE TELL ME OTHERWISE.

A the sketch wip for a doodle I am making for someone who gave me some good input about Porta Custodis.

Another sketch gift, this time for Starling from Inkbunny.net ... he commented about liking the style of the river and hoping to see a storybook out of it, and was excited when i said that that was what the style was for.
SO I DREW HIM.

This is... um. Sheppero. He's for Sageon, who also gave me good input on porta custodis

Asher, for the same reasons

I forget this handsome fella's name, but he's for SeHT also for giving me some awesome input =3

this is FEN BECAUSE HE IS FENNYLISCIOUS. I like what happened with the head but I'm not so hot on the body. Want to finish it, though.

Oh, remember this? Yeha. It's about halfway colored now, but here are some lines for you.
The inks are that way on purpose >>

OLD picture of something called a valerien.

newer picture

Newest picture, including some rough sketches of a harness used on it. . . . Yeah. these guys are for one of those worlds that i'm always building but might not ever use.
