I'm boring.

Did this one in two fairly short sittings... yesterday and the day before. it's of Max Sarin's character R'ha. (no i do not know how to pronounce that). I love her characters, and she gave me a bit of helpful writing advice sometime within the last two years, so i figured it's about time i gave her something in return :3
I made it in Artweaver (because whenever i feel like arting on the laptop i download a new free art program, and this is the current one) and it seems to be some sort of photoshop/painter/sai bastard baby. either way, i like how it came out well enough, and the only reason it's rough around the edges is because i'm frikkin lazy.

And this next one is for M'writer friend, (the same one i'm working on this picture for)- she sent me an excerpt of the opening for The Anachronist (no link for that one, sorry) and this poppe

and, the last one for today, a revision of an older sketch... i'd link you to it but the link will be broken once i finish this-
anyway, i had to edit it because the smaller character (Samira) is no longer a human.. so now she's a tiger. And the snarky one is her husband, Asher "haze" Nahuel.
Funny story, this revision was created entirely in black ad white in manga studio, but when i opened the PSD in artweaver, the white became kind of broken, with a gradient from red to orange-yellow, and the lines are a gradient from navy blue to black O-o
well, i'm only using them as guidelines for some painting practice, anyway, but it's still kind of funny/odd.

also, i say i'm boring because i'm currently in wales and instead of going and seeing things, an on the computer drawing.
jeezuz.

it BURNSSSS!!

first thing's first, I finished this picture;

ANd I rather like how it turned out, even. fun to do, a tiny bit of lightular experimentation, but mostly a relaxing bit of laziness. :3
unfortunately, that is also its full size >>

now, for the main event..
i found the woodburner.
seen below is Artemis
and the second one is just a fancy rabbit who may or may not be based on jeordie...
though a bit older and without his earrings and such.

this next one was on different wood, and .. i managed to have better overall control of the woodburning tip, though completely ruined it with the shading...

and all of that is me learning so that i can eventually wor on this:

which will eventually be twixie.

Also, the most recent sketch of the sketch in this post here.

Collab/Practice

Really need to be able to come up with wittier names for these things-

ANYWAY!
Working on a collab with a friend, Tay, at the moment-
he whipped up the sketch-

and I'm finishign it;
You'll have to excuse the content, but i'm using this picture for practice, anmd I'm actually really excited about it;
I'm going to be using a few different tutorials and generally just work with light and shadow and color a bit more than usual, because it's something that i don't really practice with nearly as much as i should-
anyway,, the tutorial that got me thinking about it was this one, by this person. (he/she/it does art or Wizards of the Coast, Pixel Storm, and Paizo Publishing :3)

I'll be using a few other ones, but i ht ink that, in general, that one will be the most helpful, since- well, the basic idea is so simple- and, plus, with the gradients in place, that gives me a general tone guide for the colorins ;3

*hem*- anywho, here's the first step-

Three layers, so far (not including the layer i have the sketch on, since that won't be part of the final)

...

it'll be a fun experiment, but i duno when it'll be done-
in about a week here, kriz and i are off to a family reunion, then the week after that we're off to Wales for just under a month to visit a friend :3

Anyway! There'll probably be an update before then, anyway~

Cheers!
picked two colors- not sure why pink and brown, exactly, but i kind of like it-
chose a light source, used the gradient tool in the background;
freehand lasso tool, selected the larger character (with some allowance for the hair/fur and such).. new layer.. gradient.. rinse and repeat for the smaller character.

wiprave

hah, i think this sketch is from, like, november 2008;

and I just finished the flats today-

it's a fairly small image, though- assuming blogger didn't resize it, that's as big as it is; seriously.
but will be cramming in a much detail as possible.
It's a contest prize from FOREVER ago, for this fellow, here (check his musics).... will be fun playing with the lighting, as here's supposed to be a black light-

and those sparklies in the BG were just so it didn't look flat and black- Will probably be doing a half-assed crowd and better lights when i go to finish it.

kennel-life complete

Hayyyy! Here's the flats and then the final of the Kennel-Life commission i did, for This Fellow Here.
ALso, on the off chance you were wondering, they're a Yellow Lab and a Bichon-Poodle mix-much to our amusement, the colliquial term for the little white dog is a "bich-poo"

Photoshop fought me ALL the way on that one, but that's understandable-
for some reason, i was working at a height of around 12000 px- and my processor simply can't handle that-
will need to look into an upgrade for the processor and the video card, perhaps, but i'm fairly certain the ram is fine. (it was SO much worse before i upgraded to MOAR RAM)

anyway, this next one is a slightly refined version of the group pic for RF2010

Comic commisison

eh, some WIPS'n things.- well,t wo of them. the first is the original sketch, with all the layour and shit, the second is what i have of the refining stage, since the original.. well.
it sucks.

anyway, these are part of a commission for this fellow- i get to re-interpret one of his Kennel Life Comics :3

hope to have it done within the next few days, as he was gracious enough as to pay me before i finished :3
