A river of Images

Just to be different, We'll start with the image that has NOTHING to do with The River.
This is for Szorn, and.. it looks fucking amazing.
but I did that thing there I COMPLETELY forgot character details until after I was finished.

Alright, on to the River now.
Some pose sketches of character bodies. Just trying to get things figured out. I lost my consistency for drawing them awhile ago, so I need to get back on that :/ the image of little sister is like WAY too big.

Some motion sketches. I really need to practice these a little bit more.

More general posing, trying to figure shit out. Apparently big sister shaved off all her hair right before this.

Really like the lines on this one, but otherwise there's no reason to show you it. it kind of looks like a cross between big sister and little sister.

PAINT. RARGH i didn't shade the character really so it kind of looks like i just pasted her in there.
I also forgot to do the sky under her arm until the last minute so it's sort of like O-o
This is the image that made me go "WAIT. MAYBE THIS INKS STYLE WON'T WORK."

more motion. . .

Rough sketch of the cover.

Rough sketch of the newest version of Page 1

Rough sketch of what is theoretically page two. I may need to add one before or after it.. somewhere before page nine.

rough sketch of page 3. this marks as far as I got when i first started this project in the beginning of 2009

page four. NOMS. I was going for an OM NOM effect like from Lilo and Stitch, for Little Sister, but It's not quite working.

Sketched and painted this yesterday. I like the way that the character interacts with the background a LOT more in this one than in the other.

SO MANY PICTURES ARGH

Let's start with the river.

I've been off my game for awhile- this (an awesome sketch that i may need to finish digitally) was the first picture of Big Sister that's come out even remotely on-model in awhile.

the first sets of Little Sister that have been on model in awhile-
I -REALLY- like the leaned-back-head-giant-mouth sorts of expressions. I get that from the Peanuts, I think.

a sketch of a scene from the end of the book. the nurse looks like Rosie O'Donnel.

Some watercolor practice.

I don't know what this is, but it's awesome.

same here.
the gradient worked out pretty good, though.

California Girls, they'll melt your popsicle.

Twix, lounging.

Twix pretending to be bread

twix, prowling.

the love child of myself and twix.

sketch for a commissioner

'nother sketch for the same guy.

yeah.

not much to say today, really D:

Choices, Choices.

Let's start with that trade i was doing!

This is Jen.

she apparently is covered in purple.
I was trying something new and it appears to have worked, so no complaints on my part.

And this is the entire comic-
it's a snippet of the life of Bubbles (i would make his name a link except that there's nothing to link it to) from somewhere within the canon of the Action Transvestites. I've got SO MUCH SHIT to say about this thing so but I really want to give you guys a chance to read it and figure it out on your own first.

Alright, so, for starters, this thing.. went through so many stages.
the sketch. (the last panel was actually like three panels)- I don't think i have a copy of the sketch anymore.
the inks... which i have, and may post in the future-
the inks were originally done traditionally with my black copic sketch.
the first thing i tried once it was scanned was coloring the lines.. but this was hard as shit, so i stopped, made the borders for the panels, and started redefining some of the shittier shapes (first panel, last panel, mostly) .. did it without changing the color of my brush, too, which is why everything is brown.
the rest of the linework kind of worked itself out from there- I was -REALLY- liking the sketchy look, and with some thought decided that it worked, and from there it was just making the line bigger/cleaner for close-up shots.
and blue... blue happened because blue goes with brown, and also because bubbles's shirt he's wearing IS that light-ass blue (and it was the only other color I'd used when trying to color the lines).
pretty much everything after that was on purpose, though :3

anyway..... i had this idea in my head- you've all seen that episode of EVERY SINGLE SITCOM where someone is sort-of dating more than one person. . . and one of those people makes them PICK ONE ALREADY.

This is.. bubble's response.
